With the ongoing vaccination process and with protective care, social distancing, and disinfection, the daily number of new infections and deaths from the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has decreased.
However, the pandemic is not over and evidence shows that even vaccinated people can carry the virus and transmit the disease. On the other hand also, immunization appears to be temporary, and the frequent appearance of new variants of the virus may compromise the advances made.
Even before the appearance of SARS-CoV-2, thousands of people were dying every year in Portugal due to other viruses and bacteria. Interestingly enough, the measures we have taken due to Covid have dramatically lowered deaths due to other microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, and fungi). Thus, it has been demonstrated that thousands of lives can be saved annually by maintaining current care.
Dynasys offers three groups of germicidal solutions, namely UVC, chemical compound fogging and HEPA H13 filters. These solutions apply to viruses including SARS-CoV-2 and bacteria.
iMM started a new collaboration with Dynasys & IDMind to study the antiviral efficacy of their UVC lamps against the virus SARS-CoV-2 and the antibiotic resistant bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The tests performed ensured UVC treatment successfully inactivated the virus and bacteria tested on non-porous surfaces.
The technology tested will be applied to four different disinfection systems: robots, closets, air purifiers and manual systems.
